At MPI Jet, our mission has always been to provide a seamless, trustworthy, and exceptional aviation experience. From aircraft charter and management to acquisitions and pilot services, our clients rely on us to protect their investment and uphold the highest standards of safety and performance.

For decades, Advancetech Aircraft Maintenance has been a trusted partner in supporting MPI Jet’s fleet, delivering reliable, high-quality aircraft maintenance just minutes from Monterey Regional Airport. Its expertise and long-standing relationship with MPI Jet have made Advancetech an essential part of ensuring aircraft operate safely and efficiently.

When the shop’s founder announced his retirement, it prompted MPI Jet leadership to carefully consider the best way to maintain continuity and protect the high service standards our clients rely on.

A Transition of Legacy in Aircraft Maintenance: Bruce Pittenger Announces His Retirement

Advancetech has been serving aircraft owners and operators since 1984, specializing in Cessna and Beechcraft aircraft. Based at Salinas Municipal Airport in Monterey County, it has become a trusted name in aircraft maintenance. Its location is a jewel in itself and is the closest full-service maintenance hub to Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), saving MPI Jet's clients the time, travel, and costs associated with heading to San Francisco or Los Angeles for aircraft services.

At the center of this legacy stands Bruce Pittenger—Advancetech’s owner and MPI Jet’s Director of Maintenance since MPI Jet’s inception. His leadership and hands-on partnership have played a vital role in maintaining the safety and reliability of MPI Jet’s fleet.

Bruce’s retirement raised an important question for MPI Jet’s leadership: How could we ensure that an outside organization wouldn’t disrupt the trusted systems, fair pricing, and quality standards that have made the Advancetech/MPI Jet relationship so successful?

Matt McIntyre Preserves a Standard of Excellence

To maintain continuity and uphold the culture of transparency and fairness in aircraft maintenance that MPI Jet’s clients have come to rely on, Co-Owner Matt McIntyre stepped in to take a leading role with Advancetech.

Effective October 8th, 2025, Matt assumed ownership and leadership of Advancetech as President, while remaining Co-Owner of MPI Jet. At the same time, Mark Hendrix took on the responsibilities of Director of Operations, ensuring uninterrupted service and continuity for all MPI Jet clients.

This action was taken to ensure the high standards MPI Jet clients rely on would continue uninterrupted. Having known Advancetech since his teenage years and brought aircraft to the shop from MPI Jet’s earliest days, Matt understands firsthand the quality of work, the integrity of the team, and the importance of maintaining service levels exactly as MPI Jet’s clients expect.

Matt’s goal is straightforward: preserve a thriving, trusted business and guarantee that MPI Jet clients continue to receive the aircraft maintenance service they know and expect.

Continuity and Quality for MPI Jet Clients

With this acquisition, MPI Jet's clients can expect continued convenience, efficiency, and value in their aircraft's maintenance needs:

  • Uninterrupted Quality & Priority Scheduling

The same technicians, same processes, and same standards, ensuring MPI Jet’s aircraft receive timely, thorough service without the long delays common at third-party shops.

  • Transparent & Competitive Pricing: Because an outside organization is not stepping in, there is no risk of sudden price increases or changes to current service models.

  • Expanded Aircraft Expertise: Advancetech specializes in Cessna Citation Jets, Pratt and Whitney engines, Williams Engines, Beechcraft and Diamond aircraft. McIntyre notes that plans are underway to service Pilatus and TBM aircraft and to launch an aircraft avionics division, addressing the growing local demand for avionics services, which is a critical factor since most aircraft issues involve avionics.

  • Local & Accessible Service: With Advancetech’s presence at Salinas Airport, MPI Jet's clients benefit from the closest major maintenance hub to Monterey, avoiding the extra travel and logistics required to service aircraft farther away. Plans are also being considered to expand hangar space, providing additional capacity for MPIJet and client aircraft alike.

Business as Usual, With Added Assurance

For existing Advancetech clients, the transition will be seamless. The same skilled team remains dedicated to serving you, and your priority status will not change. For MPI Jet clients, everything you value continues, protected by someone who knows aircraft, knows the community, and knows the expectations of MPI Jet’s clientele.
